Tourism South East is already preparing for these momentous occasions and working in partnership with VisitBritain, SEEDA, Sport England, Business Link and other regional partners.
As a nation, we need to ensure that we offer a world-class welcome and excellent service quality to create a favourable impression with the worlds athletes, media, sponsors and Olympic visitors. Bearing in mind that many of these visits will be made in the run-up to, during and after the Games.
With an estimated 70,000 volunteers being needed throughout this period, the TSE hopes to develop a bespoke customer service training course specifically geared towards the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, in association with Welcome to Excellence.
It will be aimed at front line and support staff and volunteers who may have no previous experience in the sector or customer service training. It will provide an exciting opportunity to develop new skills and meet new colleagues.
