Chewton Glen
- Best Hotel in the British Isles and Number Two in the 'Top 100' Worldwide
Tourism South East (TSE) Member Chewton Glen was voted 'Best Hotel: British Isles' in the 2005 'Readers' Choice Awards by Conde Nast Traveler at a ceremony in Temple of Dendur, New York City. Chewton Glen was also ranked number two in the list of top 100 hotels worldwide, receiving a vote 97.9 against the Ladera Resort in St Lucia who received 98.8 and was awarded first place.
The Readers' Choice Awards are the oldest and largest independent poll of travel consumers ever conducted with over 28,000 questionnaires distributed to a selection of subscribers. The number and depth of the responses makes the Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice results the most reliable measurement of consumer preferences in the world of travel.
Chewton Glen managing director Andrew Stembridge said that he was delighted to receive this prestigious award. "As Chewton Glen enters its 40th year of operations, this privately-owned hotel has always prided itself on exceeding the expectations of our guests from all around the world. We are thrilled to receive this award which reinforces the standards of excellence and attention to detail that Chewton Glen is renowned."
TSE Director Christine Melia said "We are very pleased indeed that this TSE Member, a truly splendid property, has received an international accolade of such distinction. As the regional organisation responsible for tourism, TSE is committed to ensuring that the industry can compete with the very best and provide an unrivalled experience for the visitor.
