Health and Well Being Tourism
With increasing values and importance being placed on
health and well-being, the spa/health tourism industry has been experiencing steady growth over the past few years. Consumers have more disposable income and are more willing to spend money on themselves as they become increasingly aware and concerned about their stress levels and general health, subsequently prioritising leisure and relaxation time.
During 2005, TSE conducted innovative research into the Well Being tourism sector to establish the diversification opportunities for small rural businesses, particularly those in farming. A summary of the product development research is available here.
The research phase has been completed and detailed business guidance materials have been produced. The second phase of the study involves a series of seminars and working with a number of farming businesses on feasibility studies looking at diversification into the Well Being tourism sector. The project will culminate with the product development being supported by a marketing element through a dedicated website.
