Creating Accessible Tourism - helping you to comply

Using diagrams, photos and easy to read guidance, TSE's 'Creating Accessible Tourism' booklets show how DDA Booksaccommodation providers and attractions can create a disability-friendly environment at little or no cost.

The guides look at all stages of your service from pre-arrival to departure and a self-completion Access Audit is included to help you spot potential problems, with low cost and simple suggestions to help you overcome them.

There are two versions of the booklet available, one each for accommodation providers and attractions and both cost £10 (£20 non-members) including postage and packing.

>Subsidised Access Audits
50% rebate on any access audit*

If you do not feel confident enough to use the self-completion audit contained in our Creating Accessible Tourism booklets, you may want to hire in an expert to do the job for you. Using a certified access auditor, who will assess your property and make recommendations for improvements, will assist you in meeting the requirements of the DDA and can save you money by making sure you don't make costly mistakes.

TSE offers a 50% subsidy on professional access audits up to a value of £200 and you can either use a local auditor or one of our recommended suppliers.

Please contact James Blair (023 8062 5499) for more information and to check availability.

Subsidised National Accessible Scheme (NAS)

TSE is offering £100 off the cost of joining the scheme*, allowing you to gain a NAS award for only £73.

The NAS provides a set of recognised standards against which you can be assessed and awarded a rating based on your awareness and work on disabled access. The ratings indicate to disabled guests that you are both 'disabled-friendly' and prepared for their stay. This gives you a direct route in to the large, but under-tapped, disabled market.

*Both subsidies have a limited budget and are offered on a first come first served basis. The subsidised access audit offers a 50% rebate on the cost of the audit, up to a maximum of £200.
